Poem by Founding Member Sharon Riegie Maynard
The mist has settled over the land.
My eyes glimpse the green of the pines through the mist.
And try as I may, I see only that which is close to my body.
The earth holds me firmly without question.
I hear the soaring songs of birds from perches I cannot see
I breathe in the moisture held as particles in the space I stand.
I know the sun remains, although hidden from view.
The earth holds me firmly without question.
And I am.
Not as I was yesterday.
Not as I will be tomorrow.
As I am today.
In the mist, in the pines, in the songs, in the moisture of breath.
Today.
And the Earth holds me firmly.
